A Paradise For Dragon-Type Trainers

With the impending release date for the next Scarlet and Violet expansion set Super Electric Breaker, it feels right to first drop a spotlight on the latest release, Paradise Dragona.

Paradise Dragona is the 7th Japanese Pokémon TCG subset in the Scarlet and Violet Era, released on September 13th, 2024. It consists of 64 cards in the main set, plus 30 more “secret rare” cards, bringing the total to 94. The main theme of this set is a focus on Dragon-type Pokemon. This is likely a nod to the fact that 2024 is the Year of The Dragon on the Chinese Calendar. But then again, who doesn’t already love some Dragon-types?

While the focus is on Dragon-type Pokémon, a variety of choices were included. Fan favorites like Latios & Latias were included as an Art Rare and Special Art Rare, respectively. They are drawn in the combined illustration style, where the art depicted on the cards can be put together to form a larger picture of the scene. This is the closest they have been to each other since their fan favorite card, Latios & Latias GX Tag Team from Japanese set Tag Bolt all the way back in the Sun and Moon Era.

Other Dragon-types featured in the set include Palkia, Dialga, Altaria, and Alolan Exeggutor ex to name a few. In addition to these Pokémon, the trainer cards included are known for their affinity toward Dragon-types as well! Drayton was introduced in the Scarlet and Violet game DLC “The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero” as a member of the Blueberry League Elite Four. Lisia on the other hand was Introduced in the games Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire along with her signature Pokémon Altaria named Ali. The set is most centered around Stellar-type Alolan Exeguttor ex, who gets super rare, special art rare, and ultra rare variants.

Each booster box of Paradise Dragona includes 30 packs, with each pack containing 5 cards. The total set list is as follows:
